Gentle accessible yoga class. this new class will focus on yoga for health and wellbeing. This is a class for people who perhaps would like to do yoga but are put off by thinking it might be too challenging or they are too stiff or have a health condition such as Arthritis.
“Accessible” Floor or chair. If you have problems getting on the floor you can use a chair instead. If you have health problems , such as Arthritis or you have had a replacement hip or knee this would be a suitable class for you to get back into exercise. If you have a back condition or your back needs to get stronger this class would be suitable .
” Gentle yoga” This class will build up strength and flexibility gradually. Each week we will explore a new posture and learn a sequence. We will work on breath and movement. Slow mindful movement has a calming effect on the nervous system. This helps our mental health and can help with conditions such as anxiety and depression.
” Breathing” We will learn how to use the breath to help bring us more energy and also to relax. We will work with the breath in the yoga poses and also at the end of the class we will work on breathing exercises known as pranayama. These help calm the mind.
“Relaxation” At the end of the session we will have a guided relaxation. This can be done lying down or in a chair.
“Fun and friendly” This will be a class to enjoy and feel part of a group, meet like minded people and make new friends.
